Our Community of the Sisters of Mercy at St. Mary's Convent Handsworth was founded by Catherine McAuley shortly before her death in 1841. 

In  living out  Catherine's deep commitment to prayer, spirituality and compassion, this foundation has been meeting the spiritual, educational and social needs of  many people since its foundation.
