The St. Mary’s Team had become aware that many local people were acting as full-time or part-time carers. In discussing the programme for 2017 it was decided to host a pampering day for some of these people and to include opportunities for prayer, for talking, for relaxation, for creative activities. .
Those agreeing to help run the day were:
Sister Margaret Murray, a Sister of Charity of St. Paul (Selly Park);
Sister Maureen Murphy rsm,
Sister Rose Berrie, rsm (assisted by Sister Teresa Downey rsm)
We were joined also by Sister Maura Halpin rsm.

Maureen opened the day with a beautiful, sensitive and gentle Morning Prayer. The group had time to reflect, to share , and at the end of the prayer were invited to take away the symbol of a tiny flower to keep with them throughout the day. Many wore the flowers in their lapels throughout the day.

A sitting area was allocated in the Conference Room where participants could gather to chat and relax. However, it was clear that it was used very little because of the enthusiasm with which the participants entered into the day. After a luxurious Indian Head massage with Sister Margaret ,or a soothing foot massage from Sister Maureen, instead of sitting in a relaxed manner over a cup of coffee, participants were anxious to return to the creative craft activities in the Outreach centre. Throughout the house were sounds of laughter, music and contented conversation.

Lunch was excellent and there was plenty of opportunity to share on the morning’s activities.

The afternoon passed all too quickly. Examples of finished stars, candle holders and place mats were displayed on the floor in the Conference Room.
Everyone was encouraged to speak about their experiences of the day.
Maureen brought the day to a close prayerfully, giving thanks for the gifts and talents of all who had taken part in this very special day.
Our sincere thanks to all who contributed to the success of a very special day:
To Sisters Margaret , Maureen, Maura, Rose, Teresa, and to Andreas (Chef).
